River Rat Blues


Lafitte

Young Lafitte was one of many orphaned rats who scavenged the filthy banks of the Great River. While others settled for digging in the mud for scraps, Lafitte hungered for something more: He dreamed of becoming a great pirate king. Though the small-time pirate Domingo preferred working alone, he needed a strong rat to help with the heavy lifting, so He recruited Lafitte, showed him the ropes, and they quickly became partners.


Domingo

In the old days, Domingo was the pet mouse of a doomsday prepper who hoarded precious metals and jewels in preparation for the fall of society. after his human vanished, Domingo dutifully protected his master’s meager wealth until a wealthy rat aristocrat and his gang robbed him. Left with nothing, Domingo turned to piracy, both to survive and to take back what belonged to him.


Adell

Adell is from up north, where the land is much more firm but there is little excitement. As soon as she was old enough, she travelled down the river in search of adventure. to learn the art of sailing, she took a job on a smelly fishing boat, biding her time until she could join up with a crew of thrill-seeking pirates.


Captain Barracuda

Captain Barracuda was once an infamous pirate who roved up and down the river in search of glory and gold. He had great success until a disastrous hunt for a legendary treasure left him without a ship or crew. After washing up near a wartorn village, he was arrested and thrown into the local dungeon. yet the legendary pirate refuses to let this setback keep him down for long.


Jackson

Jackson is an charming, easygoing rat who was locked up for smuggling by a local warlord. After several chaotic regime changes, he was forgotten about, but this suits him just fine. He doesn’t mind jail since he can live in comfort while using his extensive network of outside contacts to keep him supplied with the best food and drink.


Captain Brine

Captain Brine is a salty old mouse who commands the Wobbling Duck catfishing boat. Though the vessel leaks constantly and reeks of rotting fish guts, Brine considers it the pride of the seas. he’s hauled in many of the whiskered giants in his long career, but one catfish has always eluded him: scuppernong. His pursuit of this legendary catfish has spiraled into an all-consuming obsession.


Scuppernong

Scuppernong is a massive and ancient catfish who has roamed the murky depths of the river for as long as anyone can remember. his scarred, leathery hide is bristling with rusted hooks and snapped lines, trophies taken from the many fishing crews that have tried and failed to reel him in.


Boss Broussard

Boss Broussard is the criminal kingpin of the West Bank, using his immense wealth to employ a ruthless gang of thugs who swindle, extort, and tax both locals and outsiders alike. Though his vaults are overflowing, there is no end to his greed and corruption.


Jumpy

Jumpy is a deranged little frog with a uncanny understanding of human machinery and a passion for watching things explode. After demonstrating his ability to fire broussard’s antique shotgun, the Boss hires him to be his chief cannoneer.


The Nutria Bros

The nutria brothers belong to one of many clans of invasive nutria overtaking the area. As dimwitted bullies, they constantly scheme to steal from other rodents—provided they can stop brawling with each other long enough to do it.


General Fontenot

General Fontenot leads "The Blues," claiming his strict discipline and harsh punishments will restore safety and stability to the city. In truth, he cares nothing for the common folk, and his troops are little more than undisciplined bandits.


General Chartres

General Chartres commands “the Reds” and sees herself as the great leader destined to bring peace and justice to the city. Vain and self-absorbed, the only thing She loves more than glorious battle is pinning shiny new medals to her chest. She turns a blind eye to her troops’ looting, dismissing the plunder as the price of liberation.


Guidroz

Guidroz is a hulking mercenary who delights in tormenting weaker rodents and taking their stuff. He cares nothing for the high-minded ideals and utopian rhetoric spouted by the generals. He is only there to exploit the constant warfare to fight and enrich himself.


Chopper

Chopper is a colossal alligator who rules the river and surrounding swamps. Despite her size, she moves with terrifying silence and speed, making her the deadliest hunter in the wastes. Once you become her prey, your only hope for survival is that a bigger, tastier target crosses her path first!
